In January of 2008, Doug will be starting his 38th year of volunteer service with the Amateur Softball Association. Doug was New Hampshire Amateur Softball Association State Commissioner for 36 years, having been appointed commissioner in March 1971. He has also been ASA National Office Representative at nine national tournaments. These tournaments include the Men’s ASA Super Slow Pitch, Major Men’s and Women’s Modified Pitch, Men’s Class A Modified Pitch, Women’s Industrial Slow Pitch, and the Men’s 16" Slow Pitch. Including the tournaments where he served as ASA Rep, he has attended 15 national tournaments. Doug has served three terms as New England Regional ASA Director with two terms as a member of the National Board of Directors. He has served on many national committees, including Chairman of the Publications Committee, Chairman of the Modified Pitch Committee and has served on the legislative, equipment standards, slow pitch rules, redistricting , trophies and awards and commissioner emeritus committees. Doug, now retired, lives in Kennebunkport, Maine with his wife Jan. Doug retired as Exeter Parks & Recreation Director in 2003 after 34 years of service in the parks and recreation profession. He is a native of Keene, NH. In 2006 Doug was inducted into the NHASA Hall of Fame as the first inductee by Bob Hopley, NHASA State Commissioner. As Commissioner Emeritus, Doug serves as a voting member of the ASA National Council.
